A refreshing Spritzer after cycling? A pleasant glass of Zweigelt, fermented in a Barrique barrel in elegant surroundings? Or for all those who are keen on pure nature, a delicious glass of sweet fruit juice, pressed directly from fresh grapes? The region round Lake Neusiedl offers not only an excellent backdrop for friends of wine and gourmets, but can convince with its genuine and pleasant products and producers.

At all events it is the wine-lovers who really get their money’s worth in the Lake Neusiedl Region. The choice is almost unlimited. Whether a tavern, gourmet restaurant, discovery tour in lanes lined with cellars or a tasting with top wine-growers: At many places one can taste what the Mediterranean climate has caused to thrive. Outstanding soils, vigourous vines and internationally recognised top wine-growers have made Austria’s second largest wine-growing area into the show region for viniculture. 

The region is also famous for its exquisite cuisine and hospitality. Because, as is well known, where good wine is produced, people will eat well too. What is put on the table mostly comes direct from the fields and stalls “nearby”. And naturally from the lake. The fresh products from the seven gourmet regions encourage the cooks to conjure new and excellent dishes onto the table again and again. A culinary diversity of this kind together with the excellent wines, the Pannonian culinary tradition and the long-established products from the Gourmet Region can hardly be encountered a second time in so small a space in Austria.
